Alarm saved our night out ...
I went to the local fireworks display with a group of friends last weekend. The sidewalks were very crowded so I clipped a personal alarm to my purse.
While walking with the crowd, I felt a bump and my purse started falling from my shoulder. The strange thing, my purse continued falling, even when I grabbed onto the strap. The alarm went off and everybody around me stopped to see what all the noise was about.
When my purse reached my wrist I turned around thinking it had simply caught on something. To my surprise I came face to face with a purse snatcher holding my bag. The look on his face was priceless, he was so shocked by the noisy alarm.
Several people started yelling "purse snatcher, it's a purse snatcher". When the crowd around me started to react, he let go of my purse and ran away, with several men chasing after him.
The alarm started before I knew what was happening, and even then I did not react. I had no chance to defend myself, alert my friends, or call for help. Without the personal alarm, I would have lost my wallet, cell phone, and money; and who knows how many hours filing a police report.
Thank you.
